Workers Prepare to Take Action Over Unfair Labor Practices as Contract Deadline Nears
CHICAGO, Oct. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly 1,200 Teamsters Local 727 members working for parking operators throughout Chicagoland are voting today to authorize an unfair labor practice (ULP) strike. The vote comes as negotiations continue ahead of the October 31 expiration of the Master Parking Agreement covering workers at: SP Plus/Metropolis, LAZ Parking, Interpark, ABM, Imperial/Reimagine Parking, Legacy Parking, ACE, Peoples Auto Park, Advance Parking, Metro Valet, Park Plus, Pioneer Parking, Vargas, Secure Parking, and Windy City Parking Services.
"Our members keep parking operations running smoothly at airports, hospitals, hotels, office buildings, and entertainment venues across the greater Chicagoland area," said John T. Coli Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 727. "These employers have repeatedly violated federal labor law while dragging their feet at the bargaining table and we will not tolerate this behavior. Our members are prepared to take action to protect their rights and get the fair contract they deserve."
The parking operators negotiate as a group through the Chicago Parking Association under the Master Parking Agreement. Local 727 has filed or is preparing unfair labor practice charges over multiple alleged labor law violations, including refusal to bargain, failure to provide information, unilateral changes, retaliation, and unlawful surveillance.
"People rely on us every day when they fly into Chicago, go to work, visit a hospital, or go to a Bears game," said Carolyn German, a steward with Teamsters Local 727. "We take pride in that work, and we're fighting for a contract that recognizes our contributions. These companies need to take our demands seriously, stop breaking the law, and negotiate a fair contract with us."
Teamsters Local 727 represents nearly 10,000 hardworking men and women throughout the Chicago area. For more information, go to teamsterslocal.727.org
