BOSTON, MA — February 12, 2026 — Fabwright Origins, a Black-owned custom millwork and digital fabrication studio based in Boston, has joined the Ujima Good Business Alliance (UGBA), a network convened by Boston Ujima Project to support businesses advancing social and economic justice through the private sector.
Fabwright Origins’ acceptance follows a formal review process aligned with Ujima’s Good Business Standards. According to the Boston Ujima Project, the UGBA invitation was extended in August 2025 and accepted by Fabwright Origins, recognizing the company’s ongoing commitments to worker development, community-centered project selection, and local economic circulation.
“Underlying all of these standards is a basic respect for individuals as humans,” said Luis Cotto, a Community Standards Committee member, reflecting on the purpose behind Ujima’s good business framework.
Founded in 2017 by Jemuel Stephenson, Fabwright Origins has expanded from a design-focused creative services practice into a full-service millwork and fabrication shop serving residential and commercial clients. The studio’s work spans community and civic environments—including installations in education, hospitality, and public-space settings—while maintaining a mission-aligned approach to design and production.
In describing the importance of place-based creative infrastructure, Stephenson previously said, “Losing this space at HSS would be one of the worst possible things that could happen to my business,” referencing the value of working within Humphreys Street Studios and its collaborative maker community.
Fabwright Origins’ community work, highlighted by Ujima, includes projects such as the Frederick Douglass Peace Park Pavilion and an early partnership with Freedom Reads to support literacy-focused library buildouts.
