OTTAWA, ON, Oct. 14, 2026 /CNW/ -- The Honourable Heath MacDonald, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, is travelling to Brussels and Paris to advance Canada's agricultural trade interests in Europe.

In Brussels, he will meet with European Commission officials, members of the European Parliament and EU agricultural stakeholders.

In Paris, Minister MacDonald will attend the G7 Agriculture Ministerial Meeting organized by the French Ministry of Agriculture, with ministers and senior government officials from other G7 countries and the EU.

He will also open the Canada Pavilion at the Salon International de l'Alimentation (SIAL) and support the many Canadian exporters exhibiting in the Canadian Pavillion. SIAL Paris is one of the largest food and beverage tradeshows in the world, and is recognized for driving innovation and global trends in food processing.

The European Union is an important agriculture trading destination, encompassing 27 countries, more than 450 million people, and $21 trillion in economic activity, and retains significant potential for future growth. Canadian agri-food and seafood exports to the EU were worth $6.7 billion in 2025, making it Canada's third-leading destination for those exports.
